Thank you to DG Publishing for inviting me to speak at the annual Private and Public Pensions Summit alongside Frances Deakin, Nick Dixon, and Keith Gains.🌍

Our panel discussion centered around Net Zero targets and the practical implementation issues Trustees face to deliver against them. Stewardship was pointed to as a critical lever for achieving these targets.

I argued that monitoring progress and the effectiveness of stewardship presents a significant challenge for Trustees, primarily due to the information asymmetry that exists between them and their investment managers. Most pension schemes lack access to the data and systems needed to track how engagement and voting activity are driving progress on Net Zero over time.
